Ask First! An Introduction to the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL)

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in cooperation with several government entities, launched a national awareness campaign titled "Ask First", coinciding with the entry into force of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) issued by Royal Decree. The campaign aims to enhance awareness of the shared responsibility between individuals and entities to protect privacy, and to clarify the role of informed data sharing in elevating service quality and standard of living. Built on creating a balance between safeguarding individual rights and facilitating trusted transactions to build confidence and support digital development, the campaign targets all segments of society as well as the public and private sectors in the Kingdom.
